Andalusia
Andalusia, located in the south of Spain, is one of the most popular autonomous regions of the country and has numerous wineries for sale around its eight provinces: Almeria, Cadiz, Córdoba, Granada, Huelva, Jaen, Malaga and Seville. The capital is the city of Seville. Vineyards in Andalusia occupy the whole territory, but the wine production is focused on the regions of Jerez (the area with the oldest and longest-standing export tradition in Spain), Montilla-Moriles, Malaga and Huelva. There are several Designations of Origin in Andalusia: DO Jerez-Sherry-Xérès-Manzanilla of Sanlúcar and DO Brandy of Jerez, DO Montilla-Moriles, DO Condado de Huelva, DO Málaga and DO Sierras de Málaga, and the quality wines with geographical indication, VC Granada and VC Lebrija, as well as Vinos de la Tierra from several provinces.
Wineries in Andalusia produce fortified wines such as Palomino, Pedro Ximénez and Moscatel. There are also many wineries for sale dedicated to the production of not fortified wines with different varieties. The most important white varieties are Airén, Moscatel de Alejandría, Moscatel de grano menudo, Chardonnay, Macabeo, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewürztraminer, Riesling, Verdejo and Viognier. In the case of red varieties, Romé, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Tempranillo, Garnacha, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Petit Verdot, Graciano, Malbec, Monastrell and Tintilla. Besides the vineyards, it is a region famous for other types of crops. It manages the national production of table olives and olive oil; up to the point of having 12 DO of oil. Vinegars also have their own DO.
